This isn’t your standard ‘November Birchbox’ review but more of a ‘Why you should jump on the beauty subscription box band wagon BIRCHBOX review!’.
Bit of a mouthful but seeing as I have been a loyal subscriber to Birchbox for over 2 years now (shock) I felt it was time I put virtual pen to paper and give you the low down on possibly one of the best beauty sub boxes out there.

A super cute box of often 5-6 samples of beauty and sometimes lifestyle delights, delivered straight to your door for a fee each month.
Throw in a detailed little booklet, that gives you all the deets and top tips about your new found beauty besties and you've got yourself a stairway to the kingdom of beauty discovery!

So I have tried a few other subscription boxes in the past, Glossybox, Look Fantastic…
but when I started to receive some generic high-street beauty products in these boxes month on month,
ones that I could have just bought from my local Asda, I got a bit agitated and abandoned ship.

I need something that is going to pique my interest EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And keep me coming back for more.
I want luxury, high end, lesser known, HOLY GRAIL beauty products that you would never have thought to buy before, let alone have discovered yourself.
That’s where I find Birchbox hits the mark.
I have discovered so many new brands and can’t live without products just from receiving their little box of goodies each month.
Plus the selection of brands that Birchbox work with is just getting better and better.
So at any time you could find a treat from one of these brands in your monthly box!

Ciate London
Jelly Pong Pong
James Read
Aromatherapy Associates
Spectrum Collections
Lord & Berry
theBalm cosmetics
Liz Earle
Models Own
Philip Kingsley
Vita Liberata
WAH London
Laura Mercier

Just to name a few… (check the full list here)

In fact I discovered the infamous and original BeautyblenderTM from one of my very first boxes back in 2014.
Discovered the most amazing Rituals orange zesty body scrub.
The Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish hot cloth cleanser!
A perfect match eyebrow gel by ModelsCo and one of the best fake tan brands I have ever come across, Vita Liberata.
The list goes on and on, so many new cult beauty products I had never heard of before and brands that I had always wanted to try but couldn't as they were too expensive.

Which is kind of the whole point of this subscription right?!
You desperately want to try all these new products and luxury beauty brands but you also really don’t want to splash out and take the risk,
only to find out you’re £40 down on a full size product that did not turn out to be a face lift in a bottle after all!
So bring on the cute travel sized samples to help you decide if a product is worth splashing out on!

So the deal is for £12.95 a month (£10 for the box & £2.95 postage) you will get 5 beauty products tailored to your own personal profile that you fill out when you sign up!
Sometimes you receive a bonus 6th product too, it could be a full size beauty surprise or a lifestyle related gift!
Every month is a super cute new box design.
Lately they have been switching it up from their usual drawstring bags in a box and have started turning the boxes themselves into drawers!
Even better for storing all of your beauty samples and secret stashes.

Facial cleansing, body washes, moisturises, balms, makeup, hair care products and bath products.
But every now and then they will also throw in a little lifestyle extra too,
which I’m not going to lie sometimes I have looked at them and thought ‘umm what the hell am I going to do with that?!’
But hilariously I have found that most of the random extras Birchbox have thrown in like a pen, notebook, mini purse or hair bobble have ended up becoming some of my most used everyday essentials! πŸ˜‚

For example one day I opened up my box and saw a brown supposedly ‘super tie’ hair bobble in my box, I turned up my nose.
Like why are they giving me a frickin’ HAIR TIE?! I could go to Primark and buy a pack of about 20 for £1!!
But no joke when I say it has become the BEST hair bobble I have ever used in my life, super stretchy and strong, still not lost its shape and closely matches my hair colour.
My sister pulled the same face when she found one of these in her box a few months ago and I told her it was the best damn hair tie… She still uses hers almost every day.

*UPDATE: I am sad to report that I have now lost said hair tie and I am deeply saddened by this,
every other bobble I use is shit and does not match up in comparison. 😭  I must find more*

Their rewards scheme is LEGEN---Wait for it--- DARY! LEGENDARY.
Honest to god possibly one of the best reward points schemes I have come across. Here’s why -

So you have your Boots card where you can gain about 4 points per £1 spent, then Superdrug, which is it me or does that seem to take FOREVER to build up anything on there!?
I buy so much stuff in that place and every time I get a receipt I’m still only on about £1.52 in points. WHY, WHY?! I give you so much money!!
But Birchbox points, every 10 is equal to £1, which is pretty incredible seeing as every time you fill out a mini review questionnaire on one of the products in your monthly box,
you receive 8 points just for completing it! And I don’t know about you but I do love filling out a good multiple choice questionnaire πŸ˜‰

So think about it, 6 mini satisfaction surveys to fill out about your box and the products.
6 x 8 = 48, which in Birchbox land is £4.80!
You also gain points for buying products from the online shop and referring friends.

However you can’t always spend them like there’s no tomorrow,
you do have to be on a multiple of 100 to be able to spend but they build up so quickly that before you know it you’ve got 326 points, an equivalent of £30 to spend in the shop!
Which is super useful when my favourite Caudalie Micellar cleansing water is £15 and my favourite Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 week tan is £37.50.
Let the points build up and you can practically buy these items for next to nothing!

I also referred a couple of people to Birchbox once using a unique link that I can give out and I got 50 points for each referral (which is £5) and one of my boxes for free!
I also received a super cute rose gold bracelet one month as I had referred a friend within a certain time period.
It’s fabulous little rewards and extras like these that keep me a happy bunny and continuing with that auto renewal!

Ok ok so I’ve thrown you the sales pitch but what about the products you received this month I hear you scream?!
Get the low down here:

The November box is in association with Tatler magazine and they have specially curated this box designed around the party season!
The peacock detailing on the box is to die for and the selection of products looks pretty promising!
Let's dive in!

Now admittedly this month when I opened up my box and saw a hairbrush I had a similar snort of derision to when I saw the hair tie, but I thought hey this could end up being the best damn brush I have ever owned! Give it a chance.
So far so good.
The bristles are actually super soft and quite malleable in comparison to most brushes, hence why it is probably called the Wet to dry brush as you can easily use this on your precious damp hair.
It’s also the perfect size for travel and popping into your handbag.
My sister got one of these brushes in her box too but hers was purple and mine was blue, luckily we both preferred each other’s so we swapped!
Perks of having a sister who also gets Birchbox, we get any products we don’t like… we can always swap!

Infused with Vitamin E, Hemp and Peppermint Oils this primer is like a soothing balm you can swipe on your lips to keep your lippy in place for longer.
So far I've only used this once and I found it had a bit of a plumping/tingling effect probably from the peppermint!
In terms of long lasting durability it lays a great softening base for matte lips so as not to end up with crumbly dry lip syndrome!
However personally found it a little bit sticky though and not a patch on my Kiko Milano lip primer!
But I will give it another try as there is some great hype around this.

I LOVE a good moisturiser, especially when it's packed full of antioxidants and from a Parisian cult beauty brand.
Now I find with a moisturisers that it takes a good few weeks to really see the benefits and changes that you want to see in your skin.
However this creme is just far too greasy for me, I prefer a light water based moisturiser that won't upset my already VERY oily skin!
Going to have to give this one a miss for now as I can't deal with the excess oiliness! πŸ™ˆ
But if you have dry skin I can imagine this will work wonders, plus it does smell pretty fantastic.

An essential oil elixir that just screams luxury and refinement.
Now I have oily skin but even the shiniest of foreheads can benefit from a nutrient rich oil!
I love warming it up between my fingertips and applying to under my eyes and across my forehead and cheeks.
I've used this a few times in the evening and woken up to wonderfully smooth even skin the next day.
So far this is a winner in my books and I'll keep testing it until it runs out, however at £45 a pop I'm still undecided as to whether this is the best elixir I've ever tried.
I'll keep you updated!

IN LOVE with this little gem!
Everything you could ever want from a BB Cream. The benefits of a moisturiser whilst still giving a decent amount of colour and coverage to act like a foundation.
The overall colour is actually a pretty good match for my skin too so I'm pretty happy with that!
Not too greasy, slightly mattifying and the coverage is actually thicker than any other BB cream I've ever tried.
For days when I can't be bothered with a full face of slap so far this has been my go to for an even smooth completion that wont look like I've just rolled out of bed!
This may be a new beauty discover for my full purchase list!

So this month's box has been a little hit and miss for me but I always love trying new products and any that I don't click with immediately I always try to give a second chance.
Plus there's always my sister to swap with if I ever REALLY can't stand a product!
Let me know if you're considering signing up and whether you want to see more monthly box reviews!

So today I COULD have gone to an incredible event hosted by @thebloggershub_ with Spectrum Collections for the launch of their new Black Marbelous brush sets.

If you don't already know about Spectrum Collections makeup brushes, then you might want to sit down for this... Check them HERE
Honestly the most Mermaidy Unicornesque, fabulous brushes you will ever lay your eyes on!
Don't worry I've got a post all about their brushes coming up real soon, as I've been using them for just over a year now and I feel a detailed review is in order. 😻

So a little background on The Bloggers Hub, they are a support network for all bloggers alike who just need an extra boost.
That foot in the door that could propel them to new heights of blogging & social media success.
They organise campaigns, events and socials, online and IRL! to help bring us all together
so that we can share our content and creativity with like minded bloggers, brands and potential new followers!

It's not been long but they are quickly becoming my favourite online network for communicating with the blogosphere and making new friends.
(and no I'm not just saying that cause they wanted to invite me to a super duper shiny event! πŸ˜‰ )
It truly is a special little community that I'm proud to now be a part of.
If you're not following them already on TWITTER and INSTAGRAM then you need to get on it.

Anyway back to the story and my life epiphany.
So the blogging community baes @thebloggershub_ had one space left and messaged me this morning asking if I could join in the event to celebrate this new launch.
I nearly died of excitement.
As in, huge intake of breath, ohmygodisthisreallyhappeningoneofmyfavouritebrands and breathe...

However, there were just a few problems,
I don't live immediately close to London, I don't have a car, nobody was available to help me out
and basically I was stuck with no real way of getting to the event, QUICKLY!
Queue lots of flapping and manic phone calls to everyone I knew who might have been able to help a gal out!
Clock ticking, finally I had to cave and realistically admit that I wasn't going to make it on time.
To say I was crushed is an understatement.
The event looked absolutely incredible and such a brilliant opportunity to meet other beauty obsessed bloggers and discuss such a babein' brand.

But in the words of Beverley Knight - Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda
Eventually after hours of WHY, WHY, WHYYYYY!?! and beating myself up over my locationally challenged situation, I realised something....

There WILL be other events.

There WILL be other opportunities.

AND most importantly... It's not the end of the world!

Life happens, things inevitably don't always work out the way you want them to and it has taken me a LONG time to be able to get into the more positive state of mind that I am in today.
To be able to look at a situation like that and instead of dwelling on the negative and what could have been,
choose to think, 'hey at least I was even considered! an invite extended to me'.
And for that point alone I will be forever grateful.
I am now more determined than ever to not allow opportunities such as these to pass me by and to not only get involved in everything that potentially comes my way
but to also start CREATING opportunities for myself.
Not everything will just fall into your lap and yes there may seem like endless days where you just work damn hard for what appears to be little reward.
But just because it can be hard work does that mean you should give up?
If you really want something, shouldn't you endlessly strive to achieve it no matter what?

Hard work does something to a person.
The constant effort and honing and crafting and grinding will change you, shape you and ultimately bring you closer to the kind of person you want to be.
Even if after all that, you don't exactly get to where you hoped you would be, you've still achieved something huge.
You've still worked towards creating the greatest masterpiece of all

Cheesy as hell but hey I'm feeling inspired and full of ass kicking positivity that I want to release on to you all.

Sometimes you have to remember that everyone else out there in the blogosphere is just like you.
A feisty little salmon trying to battle upstream against an ever racing current that's trying to push you back down.

So when life gives you lemons you suck the hell out of them, spit out the pips and move on to the next.
The bitter aftertaste is literally just that, an aftertaste... nothing worth lingering on.

Anyway I hope you enjoyed my little life lesson and remember that there is always another pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...
it just might be that it's actually the second rainbow, a little further down the road!! πŸ˜‚

For anyone that doesn't know me, I LOVE Primark. I am a self confessed PRIMANIAHOLIC.
(See previous Primark Addiction Confession HERE πŸ™Š )

Now considering I spend so much time in that shop and regularly stock up, I thought it would only be fitting that I start posting about my Primark Picks of the Month!
After all I spend so much time in there I should know all the latest by now!

Every season I tend to have a massive all out binge and go to one of the bigger stores in either Bristol or London.
Armed with my wheelie basket, and hours to spare I set about fully scoping out every floor and square inch of the store!
Why?! Because the thing about Primark is that half the time some of the absolute gems are buried, hidden at the back of a rail or randomly dumped under a shelf by a wayward customer.
These are the items you pick up and go 'No way! and it's in my size!'.
Then the clincher comes when you take it to the till and it's even cheaper than you thought it would be!
And that my friends is the beauty of Primark, fabulous High street fashion at GENUINE high street prices.

So after a little trip to the biggest store close to me, Bristol, I 'popped in' just to buy a makeup sponge and some of their super cheap skinny jeans...
Two jackets, a scarf, hat, accessories, jeans, makeup and a top later I had satisfied my routine Primark raid.

These are the pieces I am LOVING this month πŸ˜

Now this is the first bomber I have ever owned and I'm so glad I finally got my mitts on one!
They are just so damn comfy, plus it's great to have a cropped length jacket in your wardrobe that you can just throw on over anything.
Sometimes I see pieces that I think 'not sure I can pull that off' but I'll love the colour, the pattern or the style so much that I just go for it and sod the conventions.
This bomber was definitely one of those occasions.
Khaki is one of my go to shades as I feel like it really suits my hair and skin tone so instantly I was sold on that point alone!
And hello have you seen those fly looking badges?! I mean if anything is going to make me look G then this is it.
Yes I just said G, kill me, kill me now.

Can I also get 'hell yeah!' up in here for Primark skinny jeans!
I live for their high waisted plain black ones and when I went to grab these they were only £8.
Seriously though £8, I mean they might as well just start giving them away, preferably to me!

I am ring obsessed, I have a huge bowl in my room just full of ring bling, even though hilariously I don’t always wear them!
I’m just like a magpie yanno?! See something shiny and must add it to my collection.
These gorgeous lil ring packs are always a must for me from Primark and yeah they might turn your fingers a bit green over time but no worse than some of the more expensive rings I’ve bought before from Topshop!
Anyway the gangrene look is definitely in this season. πŸ˜‰

So for less than £3 for a pack of rings you can’t really go wrong, plus they make my hands look like I’m a princess.
Winning πŸ’

I remember a few months ago, ultimate blogger bae Sarah Ashcroft was wearing this super gorgeous, spandangly gold choker in her snapchat story.
She said something about it maybe being too sassy to wear on her trip to Ikea but I was already sold and I was in love.
After hunting around on ASOS (she said it would be there) and unsuccessfully able to find it in stock *cries* I gave up….
Until recently I saw this one in Primark for £3!!!
Straight in my basket!

It’s almost identical to the one Sarah had and it completes my life. Just look at it.

So that my lovelies is my...PPOTM
(Primark Picks Of The Month!)

Let me know if you liked this little round up and if you would like to see this become a regular thing!

Everything in this post is from Primark - Pick up in store
(If you don't know already you can't buy on their website, only browse. More of an excuse just to make a day of it and go on a real shopping trip!)
